“Voices of the Wind: Traditional Instruments in Laos” was recently published by TAEC and authored by Marie-Pierre Lissoir and Tara Gujadhur. This full colour, 48-page softcover book is the culmination of two years of research and special exhibition documenting wind instruments and music in Laos. Music and musical instruments are a part of everyday life. For celebrations, courtship, rituals, or to communicate with the spirits, musical practices touch every member of a community during every part of the year. The book highlights these practices, individual wind instruments, and musician stories - some the last surviving musicians and instrument makers in a village or a region. A perfect gift for the music lover or those who have spent time in Laos.
Pairs well with TAEC's first book, "Cultural Diversity in Laos: Stories from the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre".
